This is a clear, clean stretch of the Colorado River above Lake Buchanan. It's about a 30 mile run from the put in at the Hwy 190 bridge between Lampasas and San Saba to the Colorado Bend State Park. Fairly slow current on the first half and a little faster and rockier on the second half, with a number of fun, small rapids. We started late in the afternoon and spent two nights on the river, reaching the take out at mid-day the third day. A good one day run with the best of the scenery and water would be from Barefoot Falls (a private campground) to the State Park. Good fishing too, along this 10 mile section. Watch for Herons and Bald Eagles as they both nest in this area.
